I'm Jose, a full-stack developer who's been fascinated by technology since high school. Based in Baltimore, I bring together technical expertise, teaching experience, and the perspective gained from living and working across three countries. At Cobitek, I build high-performance websites for clients in hospitality, entertainment, and luxury sectors.
My Journey
Early Fascination
I've loved technology since high school, when a friend introduced me to the world of computing before I even owned a computer. That early fascination stuck with me—even as I pursued degrees in Anthropology and Education, I kept circling back to technology. I pursued certifications in educational technology, exploring how the internet, open-source software, and web design could transform learning environments.
Building Solutions
I spent years as a freelance graphic designer and web developer for small businesses across Spain, creating brochures, flyers, brand identities, and websites. One of those sites helped my client secure a contract with González Byass, one of Europe's most prestigious wineries—proof that the right digital presence can open major doors. This work taught me how to translate a client's vision into something tangible that delivers real business results.
Technology Leadership
After moving to the US, I taught for several years and became my department's go-to person for technology. Whether it was integrating digital materials into our educational platform, solving tech challenges, or building tools to streamline workflows, I found myself constantly coding and problem-solving. That experience reinforced what I'd known since high school: building solutions for people is what I'm meant to do.
Formal Training
I formalized my modern development skills through Harvard's CS50 and a Full Stack Software Engineering program (MERN stack) at Per Scholas sponsored by Google and Comcast, where I graduated as Valedictorian. Having lived and worked in three different countries—Spain, the Netherlands, and the United States—I've developed strong adaptability and problem-solving skills that come from navigating diverse cultural environments and professional contexts.
